Villa-Lucía would like to be the first step for children to enjoy our gastronomy with their family and school. Therefore, we have designed several spaces and activities for the youngest in the family that will make them fall in love with our wine culture, our region and its gastronomic peculiarities.
Area for Children and Young People
We would like any day spent at Villa-Lucía to generate unforgettable memories in all our visitors, whether adults, young people, or children. For this reason, we have an area dedicated to Children and Young People where they can enjoy all kinds of traditional and modern games, thus, integrating family and school tourism into the other activities available at Villa-Lucía.
In this area, as in our gardens and terraces, the younger members of the family will find a place where they can play once they have finished their meal, event or picnic. In addition, they can also enjoy other activities: a visit to our Museum & 4D Experience, the “Pásalo de Fábula” Experience (Fable Experience), or various wine and food workshops.
4D Experience “In a Dreamland”
“In a Dreamland” is the world’s first 100 per cent inclusive 4D experience in Spanish. It is a 23-minute short film with subtitles, a sign language interpreter in Spanish, an audio description for the visually impaired, and an audio induction loop for people with hearing aids. Add the 4D feature to all this and you have a unique and surprising experience.
It can also be enjoyed in Basque, English, French, German and, recently, in Russian.
In this short film, a Vinfo (wine elf) invites the public to learn about the heritage, tradition and culture of Rioja Alavesa, as well as a unique way of looking at life.
It has been made using the latest home automation techniques, 4D effects, aerial recording of real images in three dimensions, and stereoscopic motion capture cameras, as well as with a montage that combines real images with the computer-generated images (animation) and sensory effects.
The exclusive technology with which it is made results in a new way of experiencing the richness of the region, introducing children and adults to a world of surprising sensations. It is also worth mentioning that this short film has won more than 18 international awards at festivals in Portugal, Warsaw, New York, Berlin, Vienna, Napa Valley, and ‘The Best of the Fest 3D Shorts’ at the 3D Film Festival in Hollywood.
School Experiences
At Villa-Lucía, we arrange a series of experiences and activities for schoolchildren, in which we combine gastronomy, culture and fun to allow them to enjoy themselves and learn. Experiences that are suitable for school groups or for families, which will awaken their interest in culture and in the culinary and gastronomic arts.
Throughout the year, we organise colonies, camps, wine and food workshops, gymkhanas, in line with current educational requirements. Thanks to all this, together with our 4D Experience, the “Pásalo de Fábula” experience, and our areas dedicated to children and youth, we are the leading family and school learning and leisure centre in the region.
The “¡Pásalo de fábula!” experience.
This is the story of our wine culture and literature: the story of Félix María Samaniego. It tells us that his footsteps resound under his old home in the underground cellars of El Fabulista; that they can be traced through the medieval streets of the town of Laguardia, dotted with reminders and tributes to his figure; and that they include the aromas, tools, and traditions to discover the millenary culture of wine and local cuisine in Villa-Lucía. Shall we follow them together?
This is one of the various experiences and activities that we design for schoolchildren, as well as colonies and for the wine and cuisine, culture, leisure and fun workshops in which we merge these three elements for the enjoyment and instruction of the youngest members of the family. An experience that should be enjoyed with the family or with a school group.
The book. “Tras los pasos de Samaniego, El Fabulista”
This book has been created to introduce children to the culture of wine, the history of Rioja Alavesa, and the figure of our illustrious fabulist, Félix María Samaniego.
His fables offer us teachings for life, morals to learn how to coexist, and wisdom to understand human behaviour. Let’s take advantage of this valuable legacy at home and at school and give it the educational value it deserves.
At Villa-Lucía and Bodega El Fabulista we wanted to compile twelve significant fables and tell them in a unique way that is easy to understand using Vinfos, our little wine elves. They help us tour the most emblematic places of this land related to the figure of Samaniego, endowing them with historical and cultural significance.
